Mibec vessels can range in size from 2 litre for use in instantaneous water heater applications, all the way up to 700 litres or even more for use on larger biomass or commercial applications.

Mibec supply expansion vessels from leading brands including Reflex, Zilmet and Varem, all from stock in the UK. All vessels are approved to latest European standards, and have an outer epoxy coating for protection.

Expansion vessels for heating systems are manufactured to meet the requirements of PED 97/23/EC Directive and BS EN 13831:2007 ‘Closed expansion vessels with built in diaphragm for installation in water’.

Nitrogen and why it matters in an expansion vessel

Nitrogen is a dry, inert gas used in the Reflex range of expansion vessels to improve your vessels’ life span.

The oxygen in compressed air permeates through the membrane, reducing the pre charge pressure. During normal function, oxygen oxidises the membrane in the vessel, causing under-inflation and deterioration of the rubber. Dry nitrogen by comparison maintains proper inflation pressure longer, will not corrode the inside of the vessel and extends valve and expansion vessel life.

Nitrogen also prevents other types of corrosion as well; oxygen and moisture will corrode both aluminium and steel fabrications and also react with rubber.
